Paddle the Sooke Seas
One of the biggest draws to our west-coast island haven is the ocean. From swimming to beachcombing, surfing, fishing, and more, there’s an almost-endless selection of water-based activities to partake in. Over the years, the staff at Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina have noticed one activity that has become incredibly popular over the years – paddleboarding.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a relative beginner, paddleboarding offers the perfect balance between recreation and skill that even young children can master in an afternoon. Paddleboards offer the perfect perch from which riders can enjoy the serene sea.
West Coast Outdoor Adventures is located onsite at our Resort, offering our guests high end paddleboard (and kayak) rentals with ease.
Enjoy an afternoon at sea with your family or travel companions, or book a tour and head out with an experienced guide for an afternoon of Sooke exploration. West Coast Outdoor Adventures offers a three-hour Stand Up Paddleboard Tour that includes snacks and beverages, not to mention breathtaking views of the Sooke Basin.
If you’d rather hit the water seated comfortably in a kayak, West Coast Outdoor Adventures offers two different kayak tours; the Sooke Harbour Tour and the Juan de Fuca Tour. The Sooke Harbour Tour runs daily – prepare to enjoy gorgeous west coast scenery, and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife sightings! The tour of Sooke Harbour lasts approximately three hours.
For those looking for a more comprehensive kayaking experience, the Juan de Fuca Tour is the perfect option. Tours are scheduled upon booking, and are all private – it will only be you and your group out on the ocean with your own tour guide. The Juan de Fuca Tour runs approximately four and a half hours and includes lunch. It’s a little piece of paradise with a meal break included.
